Shanghai Trade Delegation seals US$56.2B in deals across seven CIIEs

Shanghai Trade Delegation has signed purchase deals worth a combined US$56.2 billion across the seven previous editions of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), according to ZHU Min, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai municipal government and head of the city's commerce commission.

Speaking at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Tuesday, Zhu said the expo has not only boosted China’s import volume but also helped drive consumption and industrial upgrading by optimizing trade structure and empowering companies through the platform.

The Trade Mission's purchases have covered sectors including industrial equipment, biomedicine, consumer goods and agricultural products. In 2024, Shanghai's total imports reached 2.45 trillion yuan (US$338 billion), up 28% from 2017, while imports in the first nine months of this year grew 1.1% year on year.
