The China Evergrande Centre in Hong Kong has been renamed “YF Life Centre,” according to Hong Kong media. YF (Yunfeng Financial) is a fintech company listed in Hong Kong.
Founded by Jack Ma, YF plays a significant role in his financial ventures in Hong Kong. The company’s acquisition of the equity of MassMutual Asia Limited further strengthens its position.
Speculation about a change in ownership has arisen with the renaming, but reports suggest that the building is still up for sale.
China Evergrande, facing a debt crisis, has tried to sell the building many times without success. Last year, it came under the control of Alvarez&Marsal, China CITIC Bank International appointed administrator, and was listed for sale by Savills. The sale deadline was initially set for October 2022.
