Xiaomi Auto shuffles top team

According to reports, Xiaomi Auto has had a minor reshuffle of its senior management team. HUANG Zhenyu, formerly vice president of the automotive division, is now the supply-chain general manager, replacing LI Xiaoshuang, who is now the head of marketing. Both report to CEO LEI Jun. 

Huang was previously VP of Magna and was involved in the first model produced by BAIC BluePark and Magna. Now in marketing, Li is one of Xiaomi’s core team of founders and senior employees that includes Li Tianyuan, a designer from BMW.

Xiaomi has recruited from within the industry, including YU Liguo, former president of ARCFOX, and, ZHOU Xing from SAIC-GM-Wuling, who left after only seven months. There are rumors that WEN Fei, CEO of Great Wall Motor, may join Xiaomi to replace Zhou. 

In March 2021, Xiaomi announced its entry into car making industry and plans to start mass production in 2024. In Q1, Xiaomi invested a total of 1.1 billion yuan (US$150 million) in innovative businesses including smart electric vehicles.
