Trip.com stages strong comeback

Online travel agency Trip.com staged a strong comeback in Q4 last year with a net profit of 2.1 billion yuan (US$300 million), compared with the 883 million yuan lost in Q4 2021. 

For the whole year, Trip.com recorded a net profit of 1.4 billion yuan in 2022. It lost 645 million yuan a year before.

Among the four major businesses of Trip.com, revenue from flight tickets was up 20 percent to 8.3 billion yuan. Revenue from hotel bookings, tourism and business trips all dropped. 

In Q4 alone, Trip.com made 2.2 billion yuan from flight tickets, up 45 percent year on year. Bookings for international flights rm rose 80 percent in Q4.

CEO Jane Sun said income from international flight tickets in Q4 had recovered to the 2019 level.
