Chinese e-commerce giant Pingduoduo will launch its overseas platform Temu in Australia and New Zealand on March 13, a source familiar with the matter confirmed with Jiemian News, adding that the European sites will soon open too.
First launched in the US in September last year, Temu’s low-price strategy soon made it the most-downloaded shopping app on Google Play and Apple’s app store in the US.
On the night of Super Bowl, Temu’s 30-second commercial with its message “Download the Temu app and shop like a billionaire” soon became talk of the town.
While the Chinese bargain-hunter app is attracting more customers with cheap products, it has also sparked complaints. The app is only given 1.81 starts out of five on Better Business Bureau (BBB), a complaints service platform.
