Huawei’s R&D center under construction in the suburban Qingpu District of Shanghai will start operations next year, the Qingpu government said Thursday.
It will be the tech giant’s largest R&D base. Once completed, more than 8 percent of all Huawei employees will work in the center.
The R&D center will have eight blocks around Dianshan Lake in Qingpu connected by a light railway. One of the blocks is “the forest town,” covering 176,000 square meters, the block will have 12 buildings devoted to research.
