Honda China to merge R&D subsidiary with manufacture arm

Honda China is to merge its R&D and manufacture arms from April 1 to boost its electric vehicle business and accelerate the electrification process, the company said Monday. 

According to a statement the automaker released on its website, Honda Engineering (EGCH) in charge of production technology and manufacturing equipment R&D, will be merged with Honda Motor China Technology (HMCT). EGCH will be taken over by the Guangzhou branch of HMCT.

Honda planned to offer Chinese customers 10 different EV models by 2027.
