Covid quarantine rule scrapped for inbound travelers

Starting today, Covid-19 will be treated as a Category B infectious disease, the same as bird flu and HIV. In the past three years, Covid was classified as Category B disease but treated as Category A disease in the same category as cholera and plague.

At 0:17am, CZ312 from Toronto landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the first flight to China after the optimized Covid measures for inbound travelers came into effect. Five minutes later, ZH9024 from Singapore landed at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. A total of 387 passengers were on the planes, and an hour later, they all passed immigration checkpoints.

The State Council sent 15 expert teams nationwide to help local authorities better carry out the task.
