China delivers the world’s largest aquaculture vessel

The world’s most advanced aquaculture vessel, the GUO XIN No. 1, has been officially delivered in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The 250m, 130,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) vessel cost about 450 million yuan (US$68 million). 

The sister ships No. 2 and No. 3 are to be delivered in March 2024. Construction is to start on the 300,000 DWT No. 4 before the end of 2023.

Buyer Qingdao Conson Development Group supplies marine aquatic products. In 2021, it achieved total revenue of 12 billion yuan. Conson plans to invest in 50 aquaculture vessels, forming 12 fleets with a total tonnage of more than 10 million DWT.
