Following increasing Covid cases, parts of Beijing saw shortages of fresh food on delivery platforms. Dingdong Maicai’s orders were up more than 50 percent. Some stores of Hema, Missfresh, and Meituan Maicai ran out of items.

Facing rising orders and limited delivery capacity, Hema has connected with markets in Shandong and Hebei to supply three times as many basic supplies as on normal days, including rice, noodles, grains, oils, fresh fruits, vegetables, and instant food.

Meituan Maicai has increased sorting staff by 70 percent and delivery staff by 50 percent.

Front-line staff at Dingdong Maicai and Meituan Maicai in Beijing have all had three doses of vaccine and take a nucleic acid test every day.
