Ride-hailing platforms ordered to rectify irregular practices

A total of 11 ride-hailing platforms were summoned by the authorities on September 1 and were ordered to correct their non-compliance practices. Didi and Meituan were on the list.

The Transport Ministry, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and three other departments said the by year end, these platforms must stop unfair competition tactics and other misbehaviors such as hiring unlicensed and unqualified drivers which undermined the safety and stability of the industry.

The 11 ride-hailing platforms are required to conduct self-inspections, maintain a fair market competition environment, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of drivers and passengers.
