China accounted for 68% of global new energy passenger-vehicle sales in the first 10 months of 2025, according to CUI Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association.
Global NEV sales reached 17.36 million units in January-October, up 30% from a year earlier. October sales totaled 2.11 million units, rising 17% year on year but slipping 3% from September.
The United States sold 1.4 million NEVs in the same period, up 10%. But U.S. October NEV sales dropped to 93,000 units, down 32% year on year and 51% month on month, which Cui attributed to higher prices caused by tariffs and reduced subsidies.
China's share of global NEV sales rose to 75% in October alone - a monthly high this year.
