Media and industry insiders have reported that tech giant Alibaba Group has shut down its quantum laboratory and more than 30 employees have left the company.

The DAMO Academy of Alibaba said on Sunday night that the quantum laboratory and quantum experimental instruments and equipment will be donated to Zhejiang University and opened to other universities and research institutions.

In July, the DAMO Academy publicly recruited quantum computing scientists. The recruitment notice is still posted on the official website.
