On Wednesday, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a list of new cars to be manufactured with Xiaomi’s SU7 among them.
The official photo of the car, like the previously leaked photos, reveals a sleek, coupe-style design.
The car features the Xiaomi logo on the front, comes with a standard active spoiler, and offers optional accessories such as different styles of windshields, panoramic sunroofs and wheel rims.
Batteries will come from both CATL and BYD.
The SU7, expected to debut next year, will be made by BAIC. The address of the factory matches with Xiaomi’s plant in Beijing.
It is unclear whether Xiaomi will rely on BAIC's manufacturing license use its own factory. According to industry rumors, Xiaomi production might involve some degree of outsourcing to BAIC.
